Pupils and students aged 8 to 17 are eligible to participate in the competition.


2 What are the categories for participation?

There are two age groups: Ages 8-11 and Ages 13-17.

4 Is there a registration fee?

No, there is no registration fee. Participation in the competition is free of charge.


5 What languages are allowed in the competition?

Only the Yoruba language is allowed for speaking, reading, and spelling activities.


6 How are participants grouped for the competition?

Participants are grouped based on their current class Primary Category (PRY 3-6), Secondary Category (JSS1 & 2 & SS1 &2).


7 What are the criteria for judging?

Participants are judged based on their proficiency in speaking, reading, and spelling Yoruba, as well as their cultural knowledge and presentation skills.


8 Are there prizes for winners?

Yes, there are prizes for the winner, runner-up, and third-place participants in each age category.


9 How can I prepare for the competition?

You can prepare by practicing speaking, reading, and spelling Yoruba, as well as studying Yoruba culture and heritage.


10 Will there be study materials provided?

Yes, study materials may be provided to registered participants after the registration period is over.



11 Who are the organizers of the competition?

The competition is organized by EDE PRIZE For Yoruba (EPFY).


12 How will the competition be conducted?

The competition will include speaking, reading, and spelling activities, which may be conducted in person or online depending on prevailing circumstances

and safety measures.


13 Can homeschoolers participate?

Yes, homeschoolers within the specified age range are welcome to participate in the competition.

Yes, parental/guardian consent is required for participants under the age of 18.
